LAN adapter disconnecting and connecting all the time.

Postby Joao Reis » Apr 26 04 2:29 am

Good morning
I'v got Wing 6pc's
After a problem with W2k and replacement of the hdisk, I tryed to download the windows update sp's but my lan card goes on and off all the time. everytime it does this there is a conflict flicker at the hub
even with just two cables connected at the hub ( server and PC) the problem persists. The other PC's work fine

I connected a direct cable to the server and it works
I checked the IP's and I could see no conflict 192 168 0. 4 for the computer in dsicussion both at the PC and at the wingate server.

I'm using 1 server and 5 pc's
It never happened before.

coul you help please?

Hi there

I have seen this ocassionally happening on network cards in machines with and without WinGate installed.

As a suggestion I have found that by going to the advanced settings of the adapter configuration and turning off either TX Checksum or RX checksum may fix this problem. (as these two controls generally wont affect basic card functionality although you will need to check with the manufacturers documentation for this)

Something to try.

Regards

take it fromme, i had this problem many times, its a hardware thing, if you mean by hub a 10 baseT (10Mbps) and if your network card is realtek then you probably need to replace it (there is a chance that it could work fine with a swith (100mbps) you may also before buying a new network card try configuring your lan card not to auto sense but to 10mbps half duplex if your hub is 10mbps. still problem persists? buy a new lan card :)
i had this problem with linksys lan card too however. you obviosly tried to change the port of the server's cable in the hub, if you didn't try it. if problem is fixed then this is a problem with the hub.
