Setting individual servers for certain groups

Postby jkhan » Apr 28 04 9:30 am

Need help... I am using WinGate 5.0.2 build 780
I made 3 groups "mail" "web" and "mail web"

now I want users in the web group to beable to browse ( IE Only ) on the internet.

Users in mail to be able to get mail only though outlook express of any other mail client

and well you can guess the web mail I want that group to be able to do both.

Now I enabled Java Logging and ignored default right (system policies)

then went into Services>www proxy server>
and added the group "web">restricted by security level>default rights"must also be granted">right"users can access these servers.

now in Pop3 proxy server I added the group "email">restricted by security level>default rights"must also be granted">right"users can access these servers.

now I have two user jkhan and khanj
jkhan is in web
khanj is in email

but when i log in as jkhan i get email
and when i login with khanj i get web access

need to solve this asap

Hi there

When setting a policy per service (for instance in WWW proxy service) and you only want that policy to be used, then you need to set the default rights setting to "are ignored".

This setting refers to how this policy will behave against the default system policies and if you have it set as in your examples to "must also be granted" it will try and grant the default system policy (of giving everybody access.)

So if you only want the policy you have configured on the WWW service (Or any service where you make a policy) to be used, setting the default rights option to "are ignored" will make it use this policy and will ignore the default system policy.

Hope this helps
