SOCKS Proxy Service

Postby trinh78 » Oct 14 03 4:46 pm

Hello,

I'm using Wingate 5.0.2 Server running on Win 2k Pro. All the proxy servers work properly, except SOCKS Proxy.

I have some applications using SOCKS ie: Yahoo Messenger, ICQ, Mediaring etc... but only ICQ is working. When I am not able to connect to Mediaring and YM when I used SOCKS as Firewall.

I tried to type "netstat" in command prompt, and I received this message :

- In Clients :
E:\Documents and Settings\Systems>netstat

Active Connections

Proto Local Address Foreign Address State
TCP trinh:3186 132.103.100.200:1080 ESTABLISHED (ICQ)
TCP trinh:4905 132.103.100.200:1080 CLOSE_WAIT
TCP trinh:3255 132.103.100.200:1080 CLOSE_WAIT

- In Wingate Server :

Active Connections

Proto Local Address Foreign Address State
TCP 132.103.100.200:1080 132.103.100.3:3255 FIN_WAIT_2
....

and here is the content in SOCKS Log file:
10/14/03 11:07:03 132.103.100.3 trinh 0000008109 Requested: SOCKS5 UDP Associate 132.103.100.3:3376

Firewall was disabled. Please help me ?

thanks in advance[/img]

Hey!
I'm having exactly the same problem!
I'm having users playing quake3 and rtcw over SOCKS5 proxy, and sometimes connection starts, and at the same time disconnects... Sometimes it works ok. When user preses reconnect like 10-20 times, it finally connects.

But at the same time, sometimes users just can't connect at all!!! Doesn't matter how many times you press reconnect.

Examing the logs, i found the same error, as trinh78 has.

Error: Caught socket exception in CSOCKSSession::OnRead() Connection Reset by Remote Host - terminating

Any ideas? plz help!

P.s. I'm running wingate 4.5.2 on Win2k

with UDP associate, that error means that you got an ICMP error from the other end saying that the port was not available... are you sure the server on the other end is running properly?

Hi,

ICMP has been disabled by our ISP. So, what can we do now? Sometimes it's working properly (when NAT is enabled).

Thanks
