two issues, working with IPSEC and Starband ISP

Postby justinkussre » May 13 04 9:01 am

I really really need to get IPSEC to work with a client behind wingate. I have downloaded the beta version 6 and still cannot get this to work. Are you supporting IPSEC yet and if not when? Are there any workarounds?

Second part of the problem. The computer that I am running the wingate server on is connected to the internet via Starband Satellite connection. Starband uses a USB modem for it's internet connection. Everytime I enable the enhanced network service, the starband modem quits communicating with the computer. The Starband modem has a utility that runs on the task bar that shows when it is connected. All I have to do is enable the enhanced mode and it goes offline. I disable the enhanced mode and it comes back on line. Any ideas?

Hi there

Unfortunately WinGate does not currently support IPsec traffic through its firewall although it is a feature we will release in the near future.

As an alternative you can use MS Vpn without IPsec (PPTP) and this has been tested and works well through WinGate.

As for the USB modem disconnection issue with the Starband connection and WinGate's ENS. ENS will load a driver to provide NAT and Firewall services in WinGate, so there could be a drivers issue with the modem adn ENS, you can check to see if you have the latest drivers for the modem, and check that Internet connectivity still works with your clients using either straight Proxy or WGIC just to verify this is the cause.

Can't get pptp to work

Postby justinkussre » May 19 04 2:35 am

I still can't get pptp to work. Since I can't get ens to work with the starband, I setup using the cwingate client. I am able to get the vpn to connect, but it fails on the authentication part. I get a 721 error from Microsoft's client. Any ideas what is wrong or is there a document that can help me set this up?
