Wingate version 4.4.2 on W2K Server

Postby DT » May 27 04 3:48 am

Currently running Wingate version 4.4.2 on a Windows 2000 Server.

We have recently started getting BSOD related to the qbikhk2k.sys file. Now we have a problem where we get an error stating that the Extended Network driver is not installed and only 50% of our client machines can log on ok.

Does anyone know if I can update to Wingate 5.2.3 from version 4.4.2 and will this help my problems?

If I install version 5.2.3 will this affect the current configuration?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there

Usually BSODs point to driver related issue issues and in your case the ENS driver (qbikhk2.sys). There has been numerous fixes and improvements through the versions between 4.4.2 and 5.2.3.

If you have a full 4.4.2 licence then you can upgrade to 5.2.3. You wont get all the new features such as mail server etc. But if you upgrade, the WinGate installlation will keep the settings that you had for 4.4.2

As a precaution (as with any install/upgrade) you should save the WinGate registry (which contains the current settings for your current WinGate 4.4.2) before you Upgrade so these can be re- implemented IF required.
