How to setup Anonymous access

Postby camcam9 » Jun 15 04 10:14 am

I am evaluating WinGate for deployment in our company. I have a couple basic questions.

1. How can I set it up to NOT use authentication? I want users to be able to use it as a proxy server. All they have to do is enter the IP address and port number in their IE settings. We will use it to block certain sites via black list and puresight. However, at this time we do not have a User List to import from WinNT--we are currently a Netware shop.

2. Is there a white paper that details how to set it up? I've looked at the whitepapers on the Qbik site, and they were too general.

Thanks,
cam

Hello,

The basic default setup should have given you what you are looking for in regards to no authentication. If you are only using WWW proxy, then perhaps you may wish to disable the NAT feature of WinGate as other internet enabled applications could connect via NAT. In GateKeeper go to System tab, Extended Networking and click on the General Tab and under Options uncheck General Purpose Internet Sharing(NAT).

If you haven't done so already, check out the Qbik knowledgebase http://support.qbik.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase .

Hope this helps.
