Wingate Firewall Outbound Connections/Leak Test

Postby Iceman » Oct 17 03 7:59 am

I have gone to Steve Gibsons "Shields UP" cite and have used his leak test, which tests whether firewalls prevent unauthorized outbound connections. The Wingate Firewall fails the leak test and allows outbound connections to go out, which means a trojan on your computer could send out information without your knowing about it. So can somebody tell me how to configure my Firewall to prevent this from happening but still allowing me to reach the internet. I would add that on my home computer I use Symantec Internet Security which configures this stuff automatically. Thanks

Outbound connections

You need to disable undesired outbound connections from the ENS configuration dialog or set the default action to Deny all connection requests outbound and allow only the specific set of ports to be opened.

Are you testing from the WG server or from a system behind the WG server?
