pop3 failed authorisation

Postby dg21 » Aug 14 07 5:51 pm

Why I keep getting a popup message failed authorisation when I use NAT authentication? No problem when I using WGIC. Thanks.

Because NAT has no generic way to pass on a username and password? i.e. if you have policies setup in ENS that require authentication, then you need to consider how your users will authenticate to allow access via ENS.
The changes between version 6.x releases can be reviewed here:

what service are you connecting to?

WGIC has built-in authentication to WinGate.

If you use NAT however, and your connection is intercepted, then the proxy that intercepts it may require authentication which was previously being performed by WGIC. Even though WGIC connections still get intercepted by proxies, when they do so, the proxy inherits the credentials that were established by the WGIC. NAT can't do this.
