Wingate 4.5 does not allow me to reach a VPN site

Postby chris@quantronix.com » Jul 27 04 9:24 am

Help with Wingate 4.5 configuration.

I have Wingate 4.5 running as a proxy server for providing ICS. I am not using NAT or ENS, and have an MDAEMON mail server runing on the same machine where the Wingate engine is installed, along with a Black Ice firewall and Kaspersky AV which is tied to my Mail server software.

I tried to add a user, running windows 2000, and after installing wingate client, while I was able to access the Internet (browser), however when I attempted to reach a VPN site, an error message "failed to obtain a socket" was displayed. Any ideas on how to fix this ?
Is there some port that needs to be opened up on Wingate ?
If I have a direct connection to the 'net there is no problem.

Hi

If you don't have ENS installed, then it is unlikely that this is anything to do with WinGate, more likely Black Ice firewall.
Their documentation should have information about running alongside a VPN, and opening holes etc.

Adrien

If so, Why the "unable to open a socket" message ?
I was checking Blackice and there were no alerts at this time.
Do you happen to know what ports are needed for a VPN ?
