looks quite good. May replace my internal Mercury Mail server. Is also IMAP planned for future? Do I need a new Antivirus plugin for the beta or new released version 6?

download from our download link

http://www.wingate.com/download.php

As for the AV for email, it will work with the existing/current Kaspersky AV or VisNetic AV products.

Glad to hear beta 6 is out but what about Bandwidth Control.
We hear that it will be in next release since WinGate v4.3 and I saw only email server that is useles and don't have so manny options like Mdaemon.
Please excuse me but I thing that WinGate shoud be a program to make possible Internet Sharing with many options, not be a combine of many diferent programs (mail, ftp, http. database etc)

Hi Mickey

We are still working on Bandwidth control, keep in mind this is only a beta release... we hope to be able to get it finalised before the final release of 6.0. But there are occasionally unforseen problems which can delay release of certain features.

As for the mail server, some people will have a use for these features, and some wont. Just like programs like MS Word, 99% of people don't use (or even know about) 80% of the features. So to compare 2 products on number of features alone is often not worthwhile - in the end it comes down to how usable a product is and whether it meets your requirements. We have had a lot of good feedback about the mail features, especially the more interesting spam rejection features.

I was just wondering if ver. 6 will be uPNP compliant; or if it, at least, will support voice over IP applications in MSN or Yahoo Messenger. The email improvements do make the beta worth the try, though.

Email Server

Postby DOzycz » May 19 04 3:51 am

I just downloaded and installed wingate 6.0 beta (previous version was 5.2.3). I'm aso running the Visnetic Mail Server software. I noticed that the 6.0 release of wingate has enhanced email options. Could I replace the Visnetic Mail Server with wingate's email option. Is there a way to migrate the settings from Visnetic mail server to wingate. When I installed the beta version of wingate, it did not install the mail server functions (ie. mail services are disabled). Is that because it recognized that Visnetic mail server was installed, or do I need to upgrade my wingate license to utlitize the mail server functions. Please advise.[/quote]
