SMTP server times out.

Postby kgoodknecht » Aug 03 04 4:00 am

After making the RT8029 workaround to cure connection problems as per, http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?t=2372
the Wingate SMTP server started timing out and would not accept mail. According to FPORT Wingate was still listening on port 25 but all connections to port 25 timed out.
I re-enabled my spare NIC, disabled the RT8029 and the SMTP service went back to work.
The weird thing about this is before the workaround the SMTP server is the only service that would work on the RT8029 before I applied the "workaround" go figure.

Additional information, it didn't dawn on me there was a problem with the RT8029 workaround at first, but when I applied the workaround Wingate failed to start as Windows started. It was a couple of hours before I realized the SMTP service was refusing connections. But I verified that the workaround was causing Wingate to not start Automatically. When I disabled the RT8029 NIC and unchecked the workaround in Advnced options, Wingate went to starting normally.

For now I'm going to keep the RT8029 NIC disabled but I would really like to have it back, working.
