OK. Stay with me while I try and explain what I believe is quite a standard setup (hopefully).
WINGATE installed on Server 2003 box with 2 NIC's.
NETWORK IP DETAILS ETC
ISP is a local UK educational supplier.
Details given to us by the ISP are:
*These are not the real ip's*
Network address 10.8.40.0
subnet mask 255.255.252.0
Default gateway 10.8.43.254 (this is the ip of a physical router on our site which they have given us)
The external NIC is thus setup:
IP 10.8.40.1
sm 255.255.252
gateway 10.8.43.254
dns as given by ISP
The internal NIC is setup like this:
IP 10.10.2.201
sm 255.255.0.0
gateway - blank
dns - one entry for ISP dns
one entry for local domain dns server (10.10.3.2)
WINGATE SETUP
DHCP disabled - using DHCP on domain controller.
WWW Proxy server running on port 81
Connections to servers are made through cascaded proxy server:
and I've filled in the details from the ISP for server name and port.
Extended Network is installed and seems to be running.
CLIENT SETUP
IE6
Use a proxy server for your LAN
Details given are wingate IP and port
AND ALL THIS WORKS FINE.
Every XP client can surf that net with no problems - and it is quite fast.
PROBLEM.
1. I am using FTP software to upload files to our website and we can only do this from the WINGATE pc - I want to be able to FTP from clients using IPSWTICH WS_FTP.
2. ENS looks interesting and I'd like to try setting it up.
I have tried to get both 1 and 2 working with no success.
I have followed all the instuctions I can find on this site but to no avail.
Is there something weird in how my LAN/ISP is set up that stops me doing what I want to?
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
