Using ENS on a Domain causing DNS problems

Postby tama_drummer » Oct 21 03 3:36 pm

I am running a domain controlled by a Windows 2000 Server and I have a windows 2000 Pro comptuer running Wingate. When I attempt to use ENS it will only work if I put in the DNS settings of the Internet DSL provider into the DNS settings of workstation. But then the workstation is unable to login to the Domain because 2K server requires a DNS name for the workstaion to login. Is there a way around this without having to use the proxy side of wingate, as it limit's too many ports.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

you can use the normal 2k server as the DNS server in your OS configuration, but enter the IP address of the ISP DNS server in the resolver settings in WinGate.

This way the machine itself will use your AD server for DNS and connection to your domain, but WinGate will use the ISP DNS server for internet access.
