Mail goes as junk/spam

Postby shan » Aug 10 04 4:26 pm

Hi,
I have a few users on my network and I use the wingate mail to send mails from our network. I've got complaints that when mail is sent to yahoo or other accounts it's taken as junk or spam and doesn't come in the main mail folder. What should I do to fix this ? I'm using an ADSL line. Is there some setting I have to change.
Thanks
shan

Hi

You may need to deliver such mail through your ISP instead. Since you are on an ADSL connection, some mail servers try and validate your address, and if they find you are a dialup, they may reject or quarantine your mail.

If you find some lame servers that accept the mail then don't deliver it (like Yahoo), you can force mail for yahoo.com to go to a different server, by adding a domain in WinGate 6.0 called yahoo.com, and setting it to deliver to a specific server, then enter the mail server of your ISP.

Hi,
thanks for the reply. I used to send in the past through my isp then it used to be ok, but when I used to send through my isp some mails sent didn't get to the receiver. I have my own domain and send as it's from that domain, could they be blocking since I'm not using one of their email accounts ?

one more thing, I recieved the notification to activate my account to yahoo, the activation came to my main inbox, but the notification for my post came to the junk mail box, similar things like that happen when I also send from my machine, most times it's in the junk but sometimes in the main box.

Thanks
shan
