Bandwidth Controll Please HELP!!! - WG IS NOT LIMITING

Postby Tinchev » Aug 19 04 7:19 pm

Hi. I'm using a windows XP pro based computer for connecting 2 networks (and sharing internet connection) - one public and one private. I'm connecting with internet through the public network using VPN connection to BSD based VPN server. The trusted network is with ID 192.168.10.0/24. I am sharing the VPN internet connection on the network BUT I CAN NOT LIMIT THE BANDWIDTH to the users. I have created restriction called "2.5KB" with restriction set to 20000kbits and applayed It to my local IP - 192.168.10.3 (rule is bi-directional) but I am still using all the bandwidth that VPN provides. I tryed different levels of priority but It is all the same. PLEASE HELP ME. It is urgent. Thank you.

Did you ticked "Traffic from local machine" checkbox?
Also, make sure that the protocol in the rule is set to ANY.

So your clients go through the Wingate machine which NATs them through VPN dialup. Is that correct?

Yes that is right. I don't know does it matter but the clients are using transparent redirection. they are not using the WG client.

I can give you the IP, username and password to login and see by yourself if you want.

Oh, forgot to mention - if you have multiple rules and some of them intersect (like, IP addresses can intersect or port numbers are the same) make sure that the discipline that selects rules is set correctly.
