Configuring WinGate for Cisco VPN Client

I have a requirement to allow guest systems with VPN clients on my network, to access their remote VPN's. This means I will not be configuring WinGate VPN's for the guests, but I must be able to configure WinGate to allow VPN's through the firewall.

I have figured out how to configure port mappings, but I have not been able to figure out how to just open up the following ports on the firewall I understand are necessary for any VPN client that might be running on any machine.

TCP port 42 - Name Resolution
TCP port 1723

And ensuring PROTOCOL 47 (GRE) is allowed.

Any solution?

Umm... nuts...

My VPN problem was related to the network segment the laptop was plugged into. The backend segment didn't have a patch cable into the switch. It was not a WinGate VPN issue.

I have also found Port Security under the Extended Network Driver for firewall punch throughs.

Hi

PPTP clients on your LAN should be able to connect out to remote PPTP servers through WinGate without any configuration.

the PPTP control channel will just use NAT, and we have application handling on that port for setting up mappings for GRE.

You should only need to mess with ports in WinGate for inbound PPTP connections (i.e. to a server behind WinGate), or if you are locking down all ports for outbound connections.
