DIRECWAY/WINGATE W/2003 NETWORK-XP WORKSTATION - DNS & D

Postby rubantin » Aug 27 04 8:22 am

Please Help...

I am redeploying my small network at our little private school. Since we are so small, DIRECWAY has let us use their residential service. The only problem is that DIRECWAY/RESIDENTIAL does not install on WINDOWS 2003 SERVER machines.

Our PDC is has WINDOWS 2003 SERVER.

Since we cannot install DIRECWAY on our PDC machine, we have had to install DIRECWAY and WINGATE on one of our XP workstations making the workstation the Internet Server.

Here is the question... should I make WINGATE the DHCP server or should I make the PDC the DHCP server. Also... what about the DNS server?

If I make the PDC also the DNS & DHCP server, do I have to reconfigure any settings in WINGATE besides disabling those services?

The active directory articles are probably the most interesting. You can also do a search for "Active Directory" OR "PDC" to find some very good responses on these issues.
