Mdeamon email and Wingate!

Postby xeo196 » Dec 14 07 5:12 am

I have Wingate 5.2, and Alt-n mdeamon 9.6.3 running on 2k box.

Lately, we are unable to receive new email due to the fact that when the Mdeamon server pulls the email from our ISP, it doesn't delete the old mails that already get pulled. As the result the same emails keep on being sent to my users over and over again.

I have been working with both my ISP and Alt-n over the clock to figure out what the problem is, still without any luck.

I, therefore, have a question about the wingate server that I have. Is there any particular reason and/or configuration strickly on the wingate server that I should take a look at?
On the wingate server I have POP3 server, SMTP server, POP3 proxy server disabled. I have ports 25 and 110 enabled in both inbound and outbound direction.
Thank you very much.

Try making sure that there are no intercepts configured in the POP3 Proxy Server. WinGate 5.2 is quite old now and before my time, but here's how I would disable intercepts on the POP3 Proxy in WinGate 6.x.

Gatekeeper > Services > POP3 Proxy Server > Sessions > Uncheck "Intercept connections made via ENS"

From what you said in your first post, it sounds like MDaemon is installed on the same computer as WinGate. If this is the case, MDaemon will have a direct connection to the internet and WinGate won't be what's causing this problem.
