Frustrating user rights

I selected to use my AD user database for rights management. I set up one user (myself) to have full rights in the system policy. I also set up my PC name in the assumed users under my name. No matter what I do, my going to the internet requires a login. I want my Windowscredentials to pass through transparently. On the system message screen, it keeps saying that user GUEST failed authentication.

For now, I had to go back to the local proxy NTLM authentication and give GUEST full rights. Even setting EVERYONE to have full rights did not work.

This just seems more hassle than it should be. I'm obviously missing something, but please, help me get through this before I lose ALL my hair!!!

In doing some more digging, I found that I cannot use assumed because I am using AD DHCP. This is frustrating. The correct PC name is showing up in the activity window, so why can't Wingate simply see that and honor the association I made with the user to that PC name? I could move everyone to a static IP, but that is not normal for a IT setup these days.

Am I missing something here, or is managing user access in an AD realm (unless I use static IP's) almost impossible unless the user uses some form of subsequent authentication (i.e. Java)? All I want to do is have the user credentials pass through and be validated against the AD user DB imported in Wingate.

It is REALLY annoying to require users to log into IE on a recurring basis.

Hi

sorry to take so long to respond on this.

The easiest way to stop annoying IE login dialog boxes is to get IE to automatically log in using current credentials.

IE->Tools->Internet Options->Security->Custom level

under authentication (at the bottom) choose "automatic log in with current username and password".

Then IE won't prompt users for their password.
