Wingate and Linux Apache webserver

Postby bbroadking » Oct 26 03 11:36 pm

Hello,

I have wingate running on 1 machine connected with cable to the internet. behind it i have a microsoft IIS webserver running a website see http://ridersplace.com. (default mapping on port 80)

I am planning to switch to Linux Redhat 8.0 with the Apache webserver to replace the IIS server. In Apache i can set up several virtual hosts like:

http://vhost1.ridersplace.com
http://vhost2.ridersplace.com

Al virtual hosts are responding to port 80.
With a default mapping in wingate to the Apache server only one default host is responding.

Is there a way to let requests voor virtual hosts trough on only one port in wingate ? Are you planning support for this in the next version ? Is there a workaround ?

Thanks in advance,
Bert.

Hello, there have been a number of requests for virtual host support in the WinGate WWW Proxy.

This is planned, though I must mention that it is not a high priority.

We imagine that there might be options like specific mapping per host tag
EG:
http://vhost1.ridersplace.com:80 -> 192.168.1.6:80
http://vhost2.ridersplace.com:80 -> 192.168.1.2:80
http://*.ridersplace.com:80 -> 192.168.1.100:80
http://*:80 -> 192.168.1.140:80

Or similar. We even may add host tag modification, to allow more complex setups.

There is no planned date of release for these functions as yet.
Possibly when WinGate 6 Suite is released, we may have a set of extended server functions such as this.
