Wingate Problem, client often disconnected from wingate

Postby d4n13l » Oct 20 04 3:58 pm

I have OS W2K with AD installed with IP 192.168.0.1. I install DNS and DHCP server on the W2K server. Then I installed wingate 4.5 on another computer with IP 192.168.0.2. I use broadband connection to the wingate.

On wingate I can browsing normally, but I have a problem in my client. Sometimes my client can browsing and sometimes is disconnected.

I think it's happend because conflict in DNS server, but I can not know how to fix the problem.

Any body can help me?

Thank's in advanced.

Hi there

Your access to the Internet will not be affected by WinGate when you are browsing from the WinGate server (as WinGate is designed to control client Internet access).

Since an Active Directory environment relies on a DNS server being available to resolve hosts around the AD, you will possibly need to enter the internal IP address of the WinGate server on the "Forwarders" tab of the DNS servers properties.(Found by right clicking on the DNS server in the DNS.mmc on the DNS server.)
This way when a client machine makes a DNS/Internet request for outside the AD the DNS server will send the request to the WinGate server for access.

Can I suggest you take a read off our knowledgebase article on AD found here.

Hope this helps
