Share files on network

Postby Kiwi » Oct 28 04 10:50 am

I am new to this forum and new to WinGate. I have set up Wingate on my PC and have been able to access it via another Computer. My problem is that when I try to view files etc I am unable to see anything. I suspect that the problem is with the host settings and that somewhere I need to change security to allow file sharing.

Information regarding the host Computer
Windows XP Pro with SP2
Using Broadband Dynalink ADSL Router RTA220
6 + computers on the network (LAN)

Client information
Windows XP Home
Connecting using dialup modem 56K

I hope someone is able to help me here as I would like to use this program to allow access to the network for file sharing, Printing of documents etc on the client PC's Printer, and allow remote access for laptops etc.

Many thanks for any assitance provided.

Hi

Sounds like you want WinGate VPN, or a VPN product rather than just WinGate. The trial licenses for WinGate include WinGate VPN - is this what you are using?

check out the top post on the WinGate VPN forum, which specifies the most common problems, i.e. routing configuration.

I am using WinGate VPN... Sorry for not including that in the original message. I will have a look and see if I can find a solution in the common problem forum/post

in the network tab.... where do I find the adapter???

What I can see is:
On the Right
Remote Networks (VPN) showing host and Local network and all attached PCs plus Published Routes and Tunnels
Local Network showing Microsoft Windows Network
Network Connections.... Local Area Connection

On the left I can see:
VPNs hosted. Showing my host
VPNs to join. Empty
Miscellaneous. General and VPN
Connectivity. Dialer Extended Networking DNS/WINS Resolver. DHCP Service.

The tabs at the bottom are VPN.. Users... Network.. History.. Firewall.

Sorry about my lack of knowledge but I am new at this VPN stuff.
Please direct me to where I can find the Adapter.

Thank you

The adapter is that "Local Area Connection" under "Network Connections" on the Network tab in the right hand side of GateKeeper.
