Redirecting ports to more than one client

Postby Alexmillo » Nov 01 04 11:03 am

Hello again,

is it possible to redirect the same port to more than one client ??

I explain better: I have two computers, and i wish to use programs like Emule and LimeWire on both. But, as you surely know, emule doesn't work fine if you do not open some ports in the firewall.

Now, I have a server on which wingate is running, and two clients where I want to run emule and Limewire. At first I had just one computer running these programs, so I just redirected the needed ports to that. But now I've another PC where I wish to run the same apps, so I want to know if it's possible to redirect the same ports to both computers.

I've tried setting up Mappings on the TCP Mapping services, but with no luck (maybe I did something wrong)

Hope you can help
Bye

Not unless there is a supportable application in Wingate driver (like, FTP for one). The reason here is simple - in order to redirect traffic, Wingate should know who this traffic belongs to. Without internal knowledge of the protocol it's pretty much impossible. However, if you know that your clients will expect traffic on different groups of ports (say, client 1 on 4000-5000, client 2 on 6000-7000) then you can do that.

So, I could "turn around" the problem, configuring the applications in order to use different ports and redirecting them to the right client.

Thanks a lot
