wingate 6 :: Gatekeeper :: Lost password

Postby eric_b » Nov 20 04 6:00 am

Hello,

I dont know why, but gatekeeper ask me my password (I was automatically logged before). But I lost it.

I try to delete the Administrator account, and restart WinGate,
(HKLM\Software\Qbik Software\WinGate\UserDatabase\Administrator )

But now I have an error message :
Problem connecting with server.
there was a problem connecting to the server. Bad password. Recheck your password.

(A few weeks ago I remember I have checked "dont show any more this dialog box" in a dialog box related to blank password).

any idea ? thank you.

Which userdatabase are you using? WinGate or the OS? It sounds as if you are entering an incorrect password. Are you logging in as "Administrator"?

If it is a blank password, you should just be able to enter through.

Sorry for the delay, I was in Africa.

I am using Wingate Database.

And yes, I am entering a wrong password, because I lost it !

I am logged as "Administrator"

The password is not blank.

Deleting Wingate :: UserDatabase :: Administrator key in regedit is not working : Wingate is not asking me a new password, but creates a new registry key.

Ok.

Everything is fine.

The right procedure if you lose your password is :

1) Close wingate engine !
2) Delete the administrators & administrator key in regedit : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Qbik Software\WinGate\UserDatabase\
3) Start wingate engine
4) Start gatekeeper : it will ask you for a new password.

If you dont close first Wingate engine (As I did first), wingate will re-create the administrator key will the old password (and you dont see that if you dont refresh regedit view).
