Connectivity Problem
A problem that will make me lose my mind
DSL modem: Thompson Speedtouch 500x Series.
Connection Type: Ethernet between DSL modem and the computer.
OS: WinXP with SP2.
Firewall: Microsoft build in and SyGate.
Hello, i cant seem to connect to any internet computer when i try direct connections like DCC or ICQ and what-so-ever.
I admit im a noob to networking but after a little searching i figured that both modem and computer get a LAN IP. When modem connects to Internet, ISP assigns IP to Modem, different than the one it uses for LAN, and it seems that ISP always works as the gateway.
Problems i experience while using DCC:
I can send files, the other member recieves notification and can recieve file.
I can recieve notification of incoming file, but when i accept, the connection never establishes and fails.
Tried with ICQ i cant recieve file.
Note: Both XP firewall and SyGate are turned off.
Question: Will the Wingate product solve the problem and if yes, how?
Any suggestion highly appreciated,
Thanx in advance, sincerly.
