What happens if you just enter the server's details? Will the authentication be passed back along the chain to the user's browser?

I want to set the cascaded / upstream proxy setting in Wingate. Currently Wingate is just using a direct connection, but I would like to upstream it to my ISP, for even better Internet/cached speeds. Don't want to install it on the client's PC. They just need to point to my Wingate server.

Unfortunately the ISP proxy server need a username and password.

No, I can't see a way for WinGate to do that. (Unless they can support Socks as per the Cascaded proxy options). (Wasn't suggesting installing it on the client PC - was thinking of a pass-through type of scenario)

I wonder why the ISP needs a username+password. (Obviously for security). But wouldn't it be easier to just use the known range of IPs they allocate? I.e. trust people from that range. (Unless use of the caching proxy is a premium service).

Thanks Pascal

Herewith another scenario.

Say that our head office is running on MS Proxy or MS ISA, and user authentication is enabled, we won't be able to run Wingate as a downstream proxy server. Have to use MS Proxy or MS ISA then.

Maybe something to look at for the next release.
