Relaying Denied message while sendig mail

Postby mlpreetha » Apr 04 05 2:12 am

Hello everybody,

I am using wingate version 4.2.0. I have an ISDN internect connection and all our Internal Network users (about 5 uers) conencting to the Internet via wingate. Basic use of Wingate includes net browsing, POP & SMTP. In my smtp settings in Wingate I have enabled Default Mappting to my SMTP server through port No. 25 in General Tab. In Binding tab, both local loopback and local IP is bounded. Tnen again in mapping I have mapped my smtp server & other few smtp servers. All other setting are defaut. Now, I am experiencing a problem while sending mails out to external domains, for eg. hotmail/yahoo or any other .com address. Getting an error message "One of the receipent was rejected by the Server, Relaying Denied". To resolve this issue and to send mails out, then I have to physically stop the wingate engine, then start & also disconenct and connect internet connection. Is anybody having any clues why this is happening ? & how to resolve this issie for ever.

Cheers.

If you are using the SMTP proxy (which is all 4.2 had), it does not crete these Access Denied errors, they are being generated by your ISP's mail server. What perplexs me is that restarting the WinGate Engine / internet connection makes a difference. It sounds like your ISP"s mail server is requiring SMTP auth. Do you know if this is the case? Do they require a POP3 connection before an SMTP connection?

You may also want to look at the latest version of WinGate (6.0.4) as this has POP Collection which would allow you to download everything fromyour ISP then disperse the mail amongst local mail boxes, and you could also use the inbuilt SMTP server to send directly to the far end servers.

See http://www334.pair.com/qbiknz/documents/Mail_Server_6_Scenarios_and_Configurations.pdf for more information.
