Wingate - problems with certain websites.

Hi,

Wingate 6.2.2.

Setup as a classic proxy to access websites. All users MUST be authenticated etc.

Problems with some websites that have FORMS etc.. i.e.

thomsonfly.com

Select flight dates\any departure \ destination... hit 'GO' and you get :

Permanently Moved (here).. and it links back to homepage. WITHOUT a proxy setting on the same machine - this site works fine.(so its not the website).

Get problems with lots of other sites where you type in information to search or submit.

Any clues on this anyone ?

That site works here for me via proxy using Mozilla SeaMonkey and IE-7 simultaneously.

Do you use caching, if so does it work with it disabled?

Also can a client configured to use NAT with intercepts disabled Post Data via a Submit?

I also use NTLM authnetication w/ explicit proxy.

What I do is exclude site from caching (cache everything except these sites) and make proxy exception for sites in IE properties under LAN setting.

Also for Internet zone (in IE properties) way at bottom I check off "enable automatic username logon" to rid that dreaded login/ password popup box. Not sure if that a security risk?

Tried going to NAT with Transparent redirection intercept and never could get everything to work, so use explicit proxy. Seems fastest and wanted bandwith control but disallowed Microsoft site updates.

Would prefer NAT with ENS redirection/ intercept but can never find one method that works for all sites..seems to be some exclusion.

Other than that product works great.

Hi,

Thanks to both of you for your replies. I tried 2 other methods of connectivity on a client just now. 1 using NAT and that site (and others) works perfectly. The other I setup using WGIC and again it worked perfectly.

I know I can set exceptions and I have had to do that in the past on other websites which refused to work properly - I add them in all via Active Directory Policies. Sure enough that method works but can add to an already large workload !

I think I may go down the road of the WGIC or NAT in some cases as it seems to work exactly as expected.
