Dial up profile not present in WinGate

Postby mario » Apr 28 05 11:34 pm

Hi,

we have a problem with WinGate 6.0.3.

As it seems, WinGate does not recognize/autodetect our Dial up profile, so that we cannot proceed with any configuration. I.E. our Dial up profile does not appear in the 'Dialer configuration' of WinGate.

The dial up profile is generally functioning outside WinGate (we are able to connect to internet using the profile).

We use the following configuration:
WinGate 6.0.3
Windows Server 2003

May You tell us if WinGate offers a way to manually discover/recognize/add our dial up profile, or another way of working it out?

Best thanks.

Hi Mario,

As long as your dial-up connection is showing in your network properties WinGate should see it.

Did you know that 6.0.4 is the latest version?

Has WinGate found your other network adapters?

Regards,

Matt

Dial up connections still unvisible

Postby mario » May 04 05 1:35 am

Hi Matt,

thanks for Your reply.

We've updated to 6.0.4 today, but the problem is the same:

the other network adapters are shown in WinGate (one ethernet and one Token Ring adapter), both internal networks, but the dial-up connection does not appear in the networks tab of WinGate.

If the dial-up connection is established under Windows, the networks tab of WinGate shows the dial-up connection as an 'incoming connection', which I've set to external connection.
But the dial-up connection still does not appear in the dialer.
And the dial-up connection disappears from networks tab of WinGate as soon as the connection is closed.

On the OS side, the dial-up connection functions properly.

Regards

Hi Mario,

Just a thought:

Stop Wingate's engine.

Note down the settings for then delete the connectoid in Windows Network management.

Add the connectoid again in Windows Network management.

Restart Wingate's engine.

Has worked for me in the past with either authentication / handshake failures / undetected connectoid in the past.

Hi

What operating system is this on?

WinGate enumerates the system phonebook for dialup entries. I wonder if your phonebook is a personal one, not a global one (i.e. only the logged in user can access that dialup), in which case WinGate would not see it. It would see the connection that is made.

Hello to everybody,

I just write this to tell You that it works now.

We had to create a new dial-up profile. With the new one, it works out of the box.

Thanks to all for your support.
