connection lot slow with wingate

Postby enzo » Jun 16 05 1:38 am

I have a problem with Server-proxy (wingate 6.0.3):
the server is a IBM xSeries206 (P IV 2.8Mhz, 512MB, two network adapter 100Mbps)
The connection is a HDSL 2Mbps.
the schema is:

+ROUTER HDSL 2Mbps
|
|
|
| (85.35.x.x)
+ SERVER POXY
| (192.168.0.x)
|
|
|
+ RETE INTERNA 192.168.0.x/24

with this configuration navigation turns out to be a lot slowed down (Download :153 Kbps, Upload: 761Kbps)
excluding the proxy I have one measure of: download:1228Kbps, Upload: 761Kbps

Navigation with PC without proxy server (connected directly to the router) turns out a lot fast!

are known limitations?

How can I resolve the problem?

Do you have data filters activated - like Kasperski antivirus or Puresight?

Hi Enzo

I just noticed a similar problem here. Through NAT is a lot quicker than through the proxy. It didn't used to be any different in speed.

There is a recent MS OS patch that reduced the TCP window size. I am suspicious this could have something to do with it.

Do you have KB893066 installed? If so you may need to re-adjust your TCP window size. There is a registry value for this.
