Problems

OK here is my dilemma(s).

I used to run wingate 6.04 on a win 2k pro machine and it worked like a dream. I loved it. That machine was outdated so I reinstalled wingate to a XP pro box with Norton AV 2005 on it.

OK the only thing I can get it to do is allow the LAN computers to connect to the internet. And I have to let them through un-authenticated. If I turn on "must be authenticated" they wont connect. The wont pop up with the little log on box.

EMAIL:
I have the computers configured exactly how they were before, so I know the client side is configured correctly. When they try to connect to the Wingate Pop3 server, there is nothing. No log of it in wingate either.

My theory on this is that either XP pro or norton av is blocking them from doing so. Such as before Wingate even has a chance to to authenticate or respond on any port, windows or norton blocks it.

Have you ever experienced anything like this before?

Hi,

Make sure that the Windows XP firewall is turned off, the only reliable way to do this is to go to the services applet and disable the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing service.

Norton 2005 has been known to cause problems also, try disabling it and see if the clients can connect.
