Caching - Number of days before checking HTML files

Postby munrobasher » Apr 25 08 12:38 am

The default for this is 2 but this setting just doesn't seem to work. On the pilot environment, it was still showing the BBC website from two days ago. Resetting it to 0 works but I wondered if I don't understand how this is supposed to work or whether the www proxy should always check the date on the HTML file.

Cheers, Rob.

Hi Rob

Actually that's a hangover from 1996, where modems were the predominant means of connection for WinGate users, and HTTP/1.1 caching (with cache control) wasn't invented yet.

We recommend setting this to 0 now for both... should change the default setting I guess!
