Bandwidth Management for specific file types or extensions

Postby matrixthe » Jul 01 05 8:10 pm

Hi guys, obviously the best benefit of wingate is fast internet sharing and bandwidth management to prioritize traffic for primary machines connecting to the internet. It is fairly simple to do this but what I am trying to seek further instructions for is how to limit traffic of specific files like mp3, mov, mpeg, wmv, wma, etc without affecting all users connected to wingate because sometimes we have to block this files from being downloaded but being a dormitory which caters to students they are demanding that we allow them to download these files but if we allow them most of the time the bandwidth is affected as all bandwidth is consumed during this transfer.

So the question is, "How does one instruct wingate to limit the amount of traffic for specific files being downloaded?"

Whoever will answer this question should provide us with the clearest way to do this, please give a detailed example of a file to be downloaded.

Sample scenario: MP3 files should only be given at least 64 kilobits of traffic.
