WinGate 6.0.4 with Firewire Network: no internet access!

Postby Flachrater » Aug 11 05 1:54 am

Hi,
I am evaluating WinGate (and ordered a 12-user licence but did not get it until now) and have the following problem:

I want to use WinGate to get Internet access for a private separate network via the company network. There is

A Windows XP Prof PC (WinGate Server) connected via Ethernet to the company network. It has a fixed IP address (139.3.92.14, SUbnet 255.255.255.0, Gateway: 139.3.92.254 and the company DNS servers as DNS) and internet access via the company network. The PC has a 1394 Firewire card with a standard XP Firewire network driver (IP 192.168.200.254, Subnet 255.255.255.0). I have installed WinGate 6.0.4 on this machine; the LAN connection is marked as external the Firewire connection as internal. IIS, FTP and SMTP servers are installed during Visual Studio 2003 setup on this computer.

A Windows Server 2003 PC (primary domain controller for a local ADS domain) with Firewire network (directly conected to the XP PC) and an Ethernet card connected to a local switch separate from the company LAN. There is a W2003 network bridge on both network cards (IP 192.168.200.100, Subnet 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.200.254, DNS 192.168.200.100 ; DNS server configuration forward lookup: 192.168.200.254).

Some other PCs and printers connected to the local switch (all in IP subnet 192.168.200.x).

This does work:

local internet access from the WinGate server.
pinging all computers from all computers in the 192.168.200.x network (local bridged firewire / ethernet).
pinging the intranet from the WInGate computer
accessing an intranet WWW server

This does not work after a fresh clean WinGate 6.0.4 installation:

WWW proxy server (works after stopping IIS)
FTP proxy server (works after stopping FTP)
pinging from the WinGate into the internet (company firewall?)
pinging the intranet from a 192.168.200.x computer
any internet access from the 192.168.200.x network (????)
accessing an intranet FTP server

I cannot understand this. It seems to be a restriction of the company firewall or there are policy restrictions on the (company installed) WinGate server? Or is this a routing problem in the intranet?

How can I fix this go get internet access from the 192.168.200.x network via WinGate.

Thanks for any answer.
