Jungledisk

I am trying to get Jungledisk.com to map a drive. Bascially, the service allows you to map a local drive to storage at jungledisk.com. The on-line part is working fine because I can get to this via Internet Explorer. However, when I try to map a drive I get

Warning Details (2.02a)
------------------------
Drive Mapping failed
Exception Code: xDriveMapFailed (49)
Time: Thu Jul 31 11:33:44 2008
Detailed Message: A device attached to the system is not functioning. (31)
Error Location: BucketManager.cpp:232 BucketManager::MapDrive

According to all the posts I have read this relates to either Kaspersky or a proxy issue. I want to try and bypass this to narrow down the issue to being a problem with my Wingate set-up or something wron with the Jungledisk client. Is there a way of disabling the redirection and virus checking and still get access to the Internet?

Do you know what port this service uses to establish the mapping?

I would configure the client to make a NAT connection through the WinGate computer, and disable any Intercepts on relevant proxy services in WinGate. NAT is a very simple and highly compatible connection method. If the drive mapping doesn't work while using NAT, it's safe to say that WinGate is not causing the problem.

I have no idea what port it uses. It seems to vary when I look at Gatekeeper.

That indicates that jungledisk is using the WWW Proxy Server. Here's my suggestions.

1) Can you try disabling the WWW Proxy Server temporarily for testing. Make sure your jungledisk client is configured to use plain NAT.

2) If you have any plugins installed in your WinGate, try disabling them for testing purposes.

3) If your jungledisk client supports it, can you configure it to use a socks proxy instead?

Logan

That is exactly what I want to try but don't know how to do that. I have tried disabling the virus plugin by unchecking the box on the plugins tab. How do I get a PC to go through the Wingate PC to the Internet without going through the proxy?

What Logan is saying is to stop the WWW Proxy service in Wingate.

In the client pc set it to have a 'direct connection with the Internet' for all services, if the application you are using has a configuration area [or relies in the system properties for Internet Explorer] set this to be either no choices or 'Automatically detect settings' should make a 'NAT' connection for you and might work.

These look totally different in GateKeeper's 'activity window' when it's all happening.

I took my laptop to a local business centre and plugged into their Internet connection and got the same error. I am therefore convinced that this isn't a Wingate issue unless they run Wingate too.
