Yahoo Mail Problem

Postby vpiedrah » Sep 13 08 7:03 am

Our company have Wingate 6.14 and we can't send forwarded e-mails, and we can't attach files to e-mail, from Yahoo. The problem is only with Yahoo. If we connect one PC to internet directly without Wingate, Yahoo e-mail works very well.
Then, I did other test: I installed a trial versíon of Wingate in other network, other company, in other words: in other site, and happen the same problem, only with Yahoo.
I'll appeciate your help.

Hi

I'm not sure I understand correctly what is happening.

Are you saying you can't attach a file to an email? What email software are you using?

Every email is basically a file, so to be unable to attach to it indicates something wrong with the email client software?

What are the symptoms - do you get messages rejected, or what happens?

If in doubt, edit the SMTP server in WinGate, under logging select "debug" logging, and that should show exactly what is going on. Post the results of the log back here or submit a support ticket at support@wingate.com

Regards

Thanks Adrien,
but I'll try be explicit:
The used mail is a free webmail (smtp not apply) named "yahoo" (like "hotmail", "gmail", etc.).
The page is "mail.yahoo.com".
For example, I have an account: "vpiedrah@yahoo.com". This account is free and I get it in address above.
When a user try to attach a file, the browser (Internet Explorer) shows a white page, and no more.
And when a user try to send a forwarded mail, the browser (Internet Explorer) shows a white page, and no more.
But this happen only with Yahoo mail.
If a user try to do this with your Hotmail or Gmail account, it works well.
And, if I connect a PC directly to Internet without Wingate, then Yahoo mail works well.
Thank you.

Are you using NTLM auth at all? I have seen similar issues on some systems that seem to conflict with NTLM auth

You could try to create a new policy on the www proxy that allows unrestricted access to that particular site.

1. Gatekeeper -> Services -> WWW Proxy Server -> Policies
2. Click "Add" to make a new policy
3. Goto the "Advanced" tab
4. Select "Specify which requests this recipient has rights for"
5. Click "Add Filter"
6. Click "Add Criterion"
7. Select [This criterion is met if] [HTTP URL] [contains] [yahoo.com]
8. Click OK
9. Click OK, then OK or apply to finalise the changes
