WWW proxy stop when change firewall setting

Postby engineerzg » Sep 17 08 3:28 am

I used a policy like this:

but when i did it, Wingate auto change firewall setting to custom, so policy is useless :( every1 can access to internet.

When I set firewall to Low settiing, I can use policy perfectly, but vWWW proxy server can't use anymore. When I use low setting and I add some port setting like:

Firewall setting auto change to custom :(. Help me, I want to use policy and WWW proxy server at the same time :(

Hi

If you choose anything other than custom, then modify port settings yourself, then it becomes custom. Low, Medium and High are just different sets of port setting rules.

In any case, the WWW proxy automatically opens and closes holes (creates and removes port settings) in the firewall to make sure it can be accessed.

Policy in the WWW proxy is something completely different - it controls what requests will be granted to clients.

you probably have a proxy service configured to intercept port 80 traffic. While the firewall is set to custom, the intercept will be enabled, but when you change the firewall to low, the intercept gets disable until WinGate is restarted. This would indicate that your WWW Proxy Policies are not as restrictive as you intend them to be.

If you would like help configuring your WinGate server to meet your requirements, you can send a support request to support@wingate.com and include the following information.

1. WinGate Registry
GateKeeper --> Options menu --> Advanced --> Save Registry

2. WinGate Config Report
GateKeeper --> Options menu --> Advanced --> Save Config Report

3. ipconfig/all from one LAN Client
(Windows) Start menu --> Run --> cmd --> ipconfig/all >> C:\ipa-client.txt

4. ipconfig/all from the WinGate Server
(Windows) Start menu --> Run --> cmd --> ipconfig/all >> C:\ipa-server.txt

Logan
