i saw at many topic Wingate Admin post this version : WinGate6.6.2.xxxx (latest is 6.6.2.1300).

It's necessary update to latest build? Latest build more stable?

Now with current release 6.6.1 i didn't face any problem. Need i wait for latest build release officially, then update?

Hi

These are the current release notes for build 1300. If none of these affect you, then it's up to you if you wish to update now, or wait until a final release of 6.6.2

1. Added filtered packet capturing facility. Captures packets in pcap format on all interfaces.
2. Fixed an issue relating to HTTP 1.0 requests which did not contain a Host header
3. Fixed an issue in the WWW proxy relating to certain sites using chunked transfers in some boundary cases which caused premature termination of the connection.
4. Fixed an issue in the WWW proxy relating to the CONNECT command where some clients sent a CONNECT method with a message body.
5. Fixed an issue in the WWW proxy where some sites don't send properly chunked data which was causing the session to hang.
6. Fixed an issue in the WWW proxy relating to connecting through an upstream proxy for CONNECT and FTP requests.
7. Fixed an issue in the WWW proxy relating to connecting through an upstream proxy - no longer requires DNS.
8. Fixed an issue in the WWW proxy where serving files from a UNC base path would result in a 404 file not found error
9. Fixed an issue in the WWW proxy where reverse proxying to a server that required authentication would fail.
10. Fixed an issue in the WWW proxy with auto-dialing.
11. Fixed an issue in the WWW proxy relating to unhandled HTTP methods used by Outlook Web Access
12. A couple of minor tweaks to HTTP caching - now properly honours no-store directive, and allows revalidation with no-cache directive.
13. Fixed an issue where changes to a service configuration or network interfaces could cause port range settings to be lost until WinGate was restarted.
14. Fixed a problem with saving VPN settings which caused a VPN only install to no longer be a VPN only install.
15. Fixed a problem in the SMTP server where RCP files may get stuck in the PostIn folder.
16. Added code to cycle DNS resolver socket to satisfy some misguided DNS servers that start ignoring requests otherwise.

We are working on a final known issue relating to upgrade installation on Vista not updating the driver.

Regards

When I ask my server to check for updates, I web page opens and tells me

You are not running the current version of WinGate

Thank you for choosing to use our products.Your system reports that you are running version 6.6.2.
However the current version is WinGate 6.6.1
We strongly recommend you upgrade to the latest version. There are several key new features which you will be able to take advantage of and numerous important bug-fixes.

My current version is 6.6.2 (1280)

You will be receiving this message as you are running a pre-release build.

The latest version is 6.6.1, as you are not running 6.6.1 you will receive that message.

Here is our experience with 6.6.2 (build 1315)

On a Windows 2003 server it fixed an annoying network timeout problem which was introduced with 6.5.2., which took us months to track down. However, 6.6.2 hung the server every few hours and finally crashed with a BSOD. Backed out to 6.5.2 and got the timeout bug back. Going to back out to 6.2.2 (1137) tonight.

On a Windows 2000 server we got the BSOD every few hours and backed out to 6.5.2. (1217).

Haven't upgraded any of other clients from 6.2.2 yet and kind of hesitant to.

Hi Al

Any chance of taking a look at either or both of those servers with remote desktop or VNC?

We don't have any other reports of blue screens, so I'm wondering if you're running some other software that's conflicting in some way.

If so, send details into support@qbik.com

Only things these servers have in common are:

Both Dell servers of different vintages.
Wingate
Real VNC

Have forwarded WinAdit files on both machines to support and dumps when available.
