Setting Does Not Stick

Postby rboynton » Jul 19 09 10:40 am

We're running 6.6.2 1300. When I use Gatekeeper on a non-WG machine, I go to extended networking and uncheck the "Enable Bandwidth Control", then click OK. If I go back into Extended Networking, the checkmark is on again.

If I go to the WG server and do the same thing, the setting "sticks" like it should. If I uncheck the setting on the WG server and OK back out, then go to the remote gatekeeper, I cannot turn it back on remotely. I have not tried any other settings to see if this behavior repeats itself, but found this as I was trying to briefly turn off this feature today.

Hey Rick!

I'm relying on old memory here - does it make a difference if you're running GK from a drive mapped to the the WinGate directory on the server?

Also - if you make the change on the remote computer and wait a minute or two before checking do you see the change?

Those are thoughts from similar problem way back in 2004!

Hi Rick

I can't see any code which would make the stickability of that setting dependent on where you log into GateKeeper from, I'll have to try and repro.

I presume you hit the save button, and tried logging out and back in of the remote GateKeeper?

Regards

Hi Larry, good to hear from you!

I was using a copy of the gatekeeper program launched locally, and logged in using an UNC path to the server. I've been doing this for quite some time. Your comment gave me an idea to simply create a shortcut to the gatekeeper program on the server. Now it seems to be working fine.
