setting default gateway

Postby tintii » Jul 27 09 6:26 am

Hi,

I have multiple internet connections (2), and i'd like to allow certain ports to connection1, and the rest to port 2. the rest being the vast majority. is there a way to set a default connection for the majority of the ports while allowing the rest to go through the other connection only.

Thanks.

Hi

To do this, set the following up.

The connection you want the vast majority of ports to go through should have the lowest metric for its route. the OS and WinGate NAT will then choose that route in preference to the other default route. Depending on how you've configured the WinGate computer to use the 2 gateways will alter what you have to do here. If you've just added both gateways to your TCP/IP adapter properties, then you can set the metric in the advanced TCP/IP properties.

Then you'd create a TCP mapping proxy in WinGate, have it intercept the ports you want to use the other connection, and set its gateway to use the other connection. Don't specify any default destination or any mappings. Then when it intercepts a connection, it will just re-connect to the original destination that it intercepted, but use the other gateway.
