DHCP vista problem?

Postby petekol » Nov 30 09 1:29 am

i have a wingate running on win7 and acting as a NAT and DHCP server for a vista client comp
NIC ip on win7 is 192.168.10.1 without gateway, it is internal adapter and is binded in dhcp service, dhcp works in automatic mode (even though a range entry in DHCP setting is not created), netstat shows a listerning service on port 67, firewall service is down
the problem is that a vista client can't get ip, what it could be?

Hi

Normally when the DHCP server is in auto mode, and a request comes in, a scope is created. So if this isn't showing up, that indicates something is either preventing WinGate from receiving the DHCP request, or there's some other error.

Have you looked in the DHCP server log files to see if there are any clues there?

Regards

from my exp with wingate+windows 7
you need disabled windows firewall, if not wingate will not receive any respond from client (maybe default windows firewall block incoming request)
if you dont want disable windows firewall, maybe need to configure windows firewall first

it looks like it is firewall that has blocked DHCP requests from client.
strange anyway that it was not enough to stop the service
