POP3 Collection

Postby dab » Dec 03 09 5:36 am

We have Wingate 6.2.2 installed on a Windows 2000 server, which has been running fine.
Our Webost has changed email servers, and the login for POP collection is now in the from of an email address (mail @ domain dot com) rather than just a userid such as mail. This now fails to authentichate from Wingate to the Webosts POP3 account although the credentials are correct. Is Wingate stripping out the Domain name, or is something else happening here.

the change in username shouldn't cause any problems, but selection of which auth method to use might be.

Have you tried setting the auth method to say USER/PASS, or some scheme specified by your mail hoster?

Thanks Adrien, that was exactly the problem.
It seemed to have defaulted to using APOP, so was failng the standard POP3 authentication. As you said, changing to USER/PASS has sorted it out.
