Exclude interface from WinGate

Postby BrianL » Nov 01 10 11:11 am

Hi All,
I'm looking for a way to get the WinGate ENS engine to exclude or ignore a network interface. There are two NICs/internal networks connected to the WinGate server (192.168.169.0 and 192.168.170.0). I need Windows routing and remote access to handle the traffic from the 192.168.170.0 network because WinGate isn't playing nice with Cisco VPN client traffic, but Windows Routing is working perfectly.

The WinGate server is a Win2k domain controller running WinGate 6.6.4 (Build 1338). As it stands, I can shutdown the WinGate engine, launch the VPN client and bring up the tunnel which Windows routing takes care of. After the tunnel is up, I can re-start the WinGate engine which then handles the rest of the traffic. This is a workable solution, but terribly inelegant and cumbersome to deal with every day.

Anyone know how to exclude a NIC from the WinGate ENS engine or have any other tricks to make something like this work "automagically?"

Cheers,
Brian

Hi Brian

there's no way to do this on 2k.

Vista and later allow you to select whether the WinGate NDIS driver is bound to an adapter or not.

Hi Brian,

Just curious, so you do this daily, with a scheduled task at present?
