Using BandWidthControl will consume too much resources ??

Postby takusa100 » Oct 01 05 4:27 am

Hi all
cuz i had used many soft about BandWidth Control, Some of them will consume more resource ,and increase CPU's load immediately. especially when Creating hundreds of rules.

So i really wanna to know the WG's Bandwidth Control rules quantity threshold.

if i create about 300 rules for every ip in the LAN and about 200 user are online at same time, will it make the whole system unstable or let CPU be in a heavy load ? ( i haven't chance to test it right now)
Will WG's efficiency be decreased ?

That's quite correct - because every connection will have to check all the rules in your rulebase. You can reduce CPU usage a bit but choosing "First matching rule" in Rule selection method combobox.

You have to experiment - the actual rule usage is very light as soon as the connection is registered in the drivers, so the rule lookup process is performed only ones but if the new connection rate is high, then there will be more time spent on looking up the rules.
