Wingate personal proxy server

Postby boris » Apr 07 12 1:18 am

I have recently installed Wingate 7, the purpose is to use www proxy when I am off site. So when I am not connected to the local network and on the go I would be able to use this proxy for my internet activities. I set up the Wingate server and got is to work without much hassle. However if I want to make sure I am the only one using the proxy server and set an authentication plot thickens.

For some reason I am unable to set "assumed" user and apply rule where that is the only user allowed to use the proxy. After I have applied the rule and try to access the internet through the proxy I get the error -> "Your proxy server is mis-configured, it requires authentication but does not have any authentication methods enabled, please contact your system administrator". However as soon as I disable the access rule and everyone is allowed to use the proxy it goes away and I can access the internet through Wingate.

If it matters I am using a server with only one network interface card since I am not using the server as a proxy server for the whole network, the only purpose is to use it when I am off location.

If anyone know how to fix this any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

the key is the warning about not auth methods enabled. This means they must have been disabled in the WWW proxy?

Check the general tab for the WWW proxy service, and make sure it has some auth method enabled.
