wingate broken after update 7.2.2.3416

Postby Rburn99 » Jun 08 12 2:44 am

Everything was working fine until update 7.2.2.3416. clients browsers and external mail access stopped working. I got client browsers to work again by setting the browsers proxy information to point to the wingate machine. This did not fix mail though. Attempts to ping our mail server fail because the address cannot be resolved. I can ping from the wingate machine though, so I got the ip of our mail server that way and tried entering the actual ip in the client mail programs. That did not help. Clients cannot ping external ip addresses either.

Hi

Can you check if the WinGAte network driver is installed on your network adapters?

On Windows Vista and later (inc 7 and 2008 etc), there's no way to update the driver, it needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled. We've seen the occasional problem with this, which leaves it not installed properly.

If it's not there (in your LAN card properties), click the install button, and choose Service, and go from there.

You'll need to reboot if you add it this way.

Hi Adrien,

Reinstalling wingate fixed the issue. Apparently the update failed. Although it showed the new version/build number in green on the update page, Jason found somewhere else in the system that showed the update did not finish.

Thank you.

HI

most likely the driver installer, esp if it was showing the new version number, since that means the exes and dlls were updated.

Also the driver is the thing that can cause your network to block everything.
