Timeline and SQL

Postby rebelldtu » Aug 14 12 9:13 pm

Hi
I installed SQL2008R2 to improve performance for the cache index. Since doing so Timeline has stopped functioning. I have played around a bit and made a new database for it under SQL20082 and hooked in using Native Client 10. Im assumming this is an acceptable setup and will again improve the performance?

However I have one small issue, Timeline does not automatically start on a reboot of the server I have to allow a full boot and then restart the Wingate engine to kick it in to play. Any ideas as to why this may be?

Cheers

Paul

Hi Paul

I think probably WinGate is starting prior to the SQL express server, and so the database fails to connect when it starts.

the HTTP Cache retries to connect, but I think the timeline probably doesn't.

MDB doesn't suffer from this since it's not a service.

You can possibly make WinGate service depend on the SQL express service. There's a registry key under services that makes one dependent (so the other will be started first).

Check out http://support.microsoft.com/kb/193888 for more information.
