Adapter Teaming

Postby rebelldtu » Sep 13 12 8:40 am

Hi,
I have an issue with Wingate NAT.

I have a Dell Server (W2k8R2) which utilises Network Adapter Teaming (Broadcom BACS4) for Failover and Load Balancing.

There are three adapters in total in this server.

When I team two adapters together which serve my LAN and install Wingate all works well for a couple of hours and then NAT stops responding. (I also run a HTTP Proxy Server and FTP Service. These are not affected by this issue and continue to happily serve requests.)

The Wingate Network Driver dissappears from the LAN Adapter Team but is still present on the single WAN Adapter.

I manually reinstall it through the Adapter Properties and NAT then shows up again under the Activity section and looks like it is serving requests. However it isn't. I have to unteam the two LAN adapters and then all works well. Any Ideas as to why this behaviour occurs??

Thanks in advance

Hi Paul

We haven't had many clients using teaming with WinGate, I can think of only 1 other case, and they had to disable it as well.

I'll need to look further into what impact teaming has on how the virtual teamed device appears to the protocol stack to see whether that is likely to cause issues with WinGate. for instance I don't know if it gets a new virtual MAC address, or whether to NDIS LWF drivers it still looks like 2 adapters.

So anyway as far as I'm aware, it doesn't work with WinGate's ENS driver sorry. Something for the roadmap.
