Java client authentication

Postby proxydude » Oct 02 12 8:10 pm

Hi

I followed the manual instructions and i can successfully log into wingate with my other computer via the java authentication using the java popup applet. No problem

I would like to do this over the internet from a remote location, except i have a problem with it. The connection is established and the java popup applet appears but i keep getting the error 'No response on port' when trying to log in

The port is open in my router port forwarding and also in my software firewall. Also, the adapters are all bound for access in both 'remote control service' and 'www proxy service' and the wingate firewall is disabled. My software firewall logs and reports the proxy port as successful access

Should that work ? are there any other ports or reason why i get this error ?

Hi

that Java applet connects to the Remote Control Service to authenticate, so you would need to make the Remote Control Service available on the internet interface.

Yes, that's right, as i had mentioned both the remote and proxy services are bound

The adapter is set to 'internal'. That's correct ? Internal or external, same problem. 'No response on port'

The proxy port 8080 and also port 808 are both open and unblocked. No other port needs opening ? There are no firewall logs of any blockages

I'm wondering if the client is trying to connect to the wrong IP or something.

Normally a browser only allows a Java Applet to connect back to the site that it came from. So the fact that the applet is loading up implies that bit should be right. Can you run some packet capturing software (e.g. wireshark) on a client computer to see where it's trying to connect?
