restrciting users via WWW Services policy

Postby TeddyAD » Nov 01 05 7:21 am

I have tried restricting certian users via WWW Service Polices but moment this policy is configured all PCs inlcuding those allowed are not working. All client PCs have WGIC installed on them (current latest version including on server). What I did was removed Everyone from REcipients list then added client computer names which I want to have full access givng them unrestircted rights. I changed default right ( Sys policies) are ignored. Finally while trying from client PCs only one PC (192.168.0.2) worked fine whereas others PCs which I had allowed or added can not connect to internet. Now I have added everyon and all PCs are working to browse. Can you please advise detailed instruction & what needs to be done as there are certina client PCs which I want to block from accesing internet

Hi,

You must have some form of assumption/authentication to control user access by username. WinGate will only see a username if you require the clients to authenticate. If you look in the activity screen when a client is browsing do you see Computer name - (username - Authenticated[NTLM]), or do you just see the Computer name?

If you only see the computer name then this would be your problem, just turn on authentication.

If you do see the username and a message that the user is authenticated, there is probably a problem with your policy.

Hi all,

I had identify/ assummed all the user by using their computer Ip address. So in the activity i am able to view their computer IP address and folow by the user's name the assumed none. I had divided all my user into 3 groups - high, mid, and low, but as i add some ban list on the low level user group, it will effect the high level user not allow to view the certain page! So what is the excact way to block according to group. And recenlty when i add some criterion (eg: add ban list) after i close the winGate windows then when after a while when i try to open the WinGate it show that the service had terminated! So i need to retart my pc, or even worst i need to reinstall the WinGate! How could this happen?
